The F4U was most notable by its awesome power to weight ratio and its agility. The iconic inverted gull wing design gave this bird a unique silhouette in the sky and allowed it to throw a huge prop while clearing an aircraft carrier deck with its low slung landing gears . Its landing gears were able to retract flush into the wings to give it better aerodynamic performance allowing it to hit speeds of 400mph. The F4U was famous for its ability to outrun, outclimb, and out gun any plane during hits heyday in World War II.
Airfield recreated this American military aviation marvel with its newest 1450mm F4U Corsair. The plane is constructed of durable EPO foam. The wings span 57 inches and the fuselage length is approx 46 inches. The electric retracts are operated by a delay system which allows the gear doors to slowly open and close mimicking the 1:1 scale model. Other scale features include LED navigation lights, a period correct pilot, and military decals applied. The 4 bladed prop is thrown by a 580KV Brushless Outrunner motor supported by an Hobbywing Skywalker 60Amp electronic speed controller. Control surfaces are handled by 9gram servos for precise movement. The rudder and steerable tail wheel is handled by a larger 25gram servo for reliability. Powering all these electronics is a recommended14.8v 3300mah Li-Po Battery. The paint scheme is vivid and stays true to the F4U scheme.
This almost ready to fly version comes equipped with all the essential electronics installed. Assembly of the plane and adjustment of the control surfaces are necessary to complete the build. Additional electronics required are a lipo charger capable of charging a 14.8v lipo battery and a 6 channel radio system.??
